The Mountbatten Hampshire Sunflower Memory Walk Goes Virtual in 2020

Drive Personnel was delighted to be a sponsor of this year’s Sunflower Memory Walk, hosted by local hospice Mountbatten Hampshire. Due to social distancing restrictions, the hospice accommodated the event ‘virtually’, giving participants the opportunity to create their own route, and walk, run, or cycle the distance whilst fundraising to support the organisation.

The walk, which was hosted at Broadlands in Romsey in 2019, raises money for Mountbatten Hampshire’s end-of-life care and bereavement support services. Drive Personnel was proud to sponsor the event alongside several other local businesses, and is a cause close to our hearts, given that the hospice has provided end of life care to people very close to the Drive Personnel team, and to managing director Chris Bryant in particular.

Participants were encouraged to walk, run, or cycle the distance of the traditional route around the Broadlands estate – 2.5km, 5km or 10km. The purpose of the Sunflower Memory Walk was to remember a loved one with friends and family whilst raising money for the team at Mountbatten Hampshire, and those who took part were provided with a special guide featuring ideas for walks and fundraising tips. So far, the charity has received over £7,000 in donations!

Drive Personnel would like to thank all of those who took part ‘virtually’ this year, and would encourage anyone who is able to do so to support such an important organisation, especially during the current the coronavirus pandemic which has led to the cancellation of many fundraising events.
