Drive Personnel supports hospice charity walk

On 23rd June 2019, the Countess Mountbatten Hospice brought together over 450 people in Broadlands, Romsey for the Sunflower Walk, a fantastic fundraising and remembrance event in which the Drive Personnel team were pleased to take part.

The hospice has been caring for people with life-limiting illnesses for over 40 years, working with patients, families and carers across the South to provide vital support services. For those living with dementia, cancer and other conditions that affect quality of life, CMHC offers a wide range of support options. From physical and social support to psychological, emotional and spiritual services, the team at the hospice offer much needed care and relief to all those affected.

A great fundraising event for all the family

The 5km Sunflower Memory Walk gave adults and children an opportunity to gather and remember family members and loved ones. During the event, walkers were given the chance to place a sunflower in the memorial display to remember someone special, and these sunflowers are now on display at Haskins Garden Centre, West End. They will be moved to the CMHC gardens on 12th July in readiness for the Sunflower Memories Event on 28th July.

The Countess Mountbatten Hospice requires over £6 million a year to provide their vital services. With only a small contribution available from the NHS, much of this total is received from voluntary and charitable donations. The ticket sales and donations have so far helped to raise over £30,000 to support the fantastic work that the hospice does every day. If you haven’t yet donated, there’s still time. The charity will collect donations for the Sunflower Memory Walk until the end of July, and each donor receives a sunflower memory marker. To make your donation or to find out more about this fantastic annual fundraiser, please visit the Sunflower Memory Walk page. You can also view a range of other fundraising event ideas for the hospice on their website.
