We are always seeking to recruit HGV drivers to work for our clients based in Hampshire, and typically have a number of HGV Class 2 driver roles to fill in Southampton, Portsmouth, Winchester and surrounding areas. At Drive Personnel, we recruit both newly qualified and experienced Class 2 HGV drivers for both full time and part time Class 2 driving positions. While most of our placements are required on a temporary basis, we can also offer temp to perm and permanent HGV Class 2 roles.
What Sort of Work Can I Expect as a Class 2 Driver?
Although there are obviously exceptions to the rule, generally speaking Class 2 roles tend to relate to day work, as many of our clients’ Class 2 vehicles are not equipped with sleeper cabs. This means that many of these roles include pallet or multi-drop deliveries, rather than long distance haulage.
This usually results in a good work-life balance; as a Class 2 lorry driver, you are more likely to be meeting and engaging with people during the course of your day and it is usually a better fit for drivers with young families or responsibilities at home or outside of work, with more sociable finish and start times.

Training Opportunities
At Drive Personnel, we believe it’s important to provide drivers with opportunities to further their careers and to this end offer the chance to work in a variety of different HGV driving roles, providing support to develop a range of driving skillsets and qualifications. We also offer discounted training options to our drivers to help reduce the costs of career development, examples of which may include Class 2 HGV drivers gaining their Class 1 licence or adding their HIAB certificate to their Cat C licence.
As an HGV Class 2 licence holder, drivers are required to maintain their driver CPC certificate of professional competence.
