Drive Personnel Light Up a Life with Countess Mountbatten Hospice

Drive Personnel were delighted to be the headline sponsor for Countess Mountbatten Hospice’s annual Light Up a Life event once again this year, inviting families to remember a loved one at Christmas by dedicating a light in their memory.

Managing Director Chris Bryant first became involved with the Hospice following the tragic loss of six family members to cancer in 2014, all of whom were looked after by the Countess Mountbatten team.

Light up a Life asks those who have lost a loved one to dedicate a light on the Hospice’s Christmas tree in their gardens. The tree is lit 24 hours a day from 1st December until the 6th of January.

In addition, the Hospice held a Thanksgiving Service at Romsey Abbey on December 8th, which was attended by over 500 people who had lost a loved one, including the Countess of Burmah (Mountbatten) herself.  Chris’s mum, who sadly passed away in 2014, attended this Service every year, leading Chris to honour her memory through his own annual attendance and sponsorship.

Countess Mountbatten Hospice has been caring for people with life-limiting illnesses in south-central Hampshire for over 40 years, helping them and their families have the best possible quality of life. This includes people living with conditions such as respiratory disease, heart disease, Parkinson’s, motor neurone disease, multiple sclerosis, end stage dementia and cancer. The charity offers a wide range of services for patients, their families and carers, providing physical, emotional, social, psychological and spiritual support.
