Things We’ve Missed the Most in Southampton During Lockdown

With lockdown restrictions having been eased in Southampton, the team at Drive Personnel are eager to share with you our favourite spots to spend time with family and friends.

Food & Drink

Since the government closed restaurants, pubs, and bars in March, we’ve been raring to revisit some of our favourite spots in Southampton. The city is full of popular chains and independent eateries, cocktail bars and pubs, including the recently developed West Quay South complex which contains a host of restaurants including Casa Brazil, L’Osteria, and Cosmo.

Like most of the UK, one of our first ports of call after lockdown rules eased was… the pub! Southampton City Centre offers a variety of great pubs and bars including Wetherspoons, Slug and Lettuce and Revolution, but its proximity to the New Forest means that beautiful country pubs are only a short drive away from Southampton. Some of our favourites include The Bell in Brook, Southampton, The New Forest Inn in Emery Down, Southampton and The Dancing Man Brewery in Southampton.

Family Days Out

With many of our team responsible for looking after their children during lockdown, family days out have been greatly missed. Some of the places that we can’t wait to visit in Southampton over the coming months include theme parks, national parks and zoos. Southampton and the surrounding areas are host to a wide variety of activities for all of the family to enjoy.

Arguably the most popular, Paultons Park in Ower, Southampton is a fun-filled family attraction with rides and adventures for the whole family to enjoy. From thrilling, white-knuckle experiences like the Flight of the Pterosaur, to the gentle rides of Peppa Pig World, Paultons Park is a great day out in Southampton for families!

Southampton is also close to some beautiful forest and riverside walks, including the charming village of Beaulieu. Our favourite way to spend the day in Beaulieu is to visit the National Motor Museum, paddle by the river, and then head to lunch at the Montague Arms Hotel in the heart of the village!

Culture

Southampton is full of lively culture, including shows, music, art, and history. Some of our favourite cultural pastimes are in the heart of the city, only a short drive from our headquarters.

SeaCity Museum in Southampton is close to Drive Personnel, and is a great day out for the whole family. This interactive museum explores the journey of the Titanic, sharing stories of those who were passengers and staff on the fateful ship.

Southampton City Art Gallery is free to visit, and is a great way to spend a few hours in the city centre. Home to some breath-taking paintings, sculptures, drawings, photography and film, Southampton Art Gallery regularly displays new artwork exhibitions to ensure that you have a new experience every time you visit. Located in Southampton’s Cultural Quarter, the museum is also near a string of restaurants on Above Bar Street, offering both global cuisine and traditional British dining.
