Drive Personnel Comes to the Aid of Local Care Facility

It has become increasingly difficult for medical and care facilities to access adequate personal protective equipment (PPE) during the coronavirus pandemic. At Drive Personnel, both the office-based team and our drivers have witnessed the effects of COVID-19, with delivery demand from supermarkets, pharmacies and hospitals changing the pace of logistics across the UK.

For essential workers who put their health at risk every day, PPE is essential for minimising the risk of infection, as well as protecting patients and the public. National shortages of gloves and face masks have caused the virus to spread more viciously, with nurses, doctors and care workers becoming ill from contracting the virus from the patients they cared for.

For the staff at Caremark Winchester & Eastleigh who have been caring for self-isolating and high-risk patients, exhausted PPE resources from their usual supplier meant that staff were visiting the homes of patients vulnerable to coronavirus without the necessary protection. Hoping for a miracle, Kate, a Field Care Supervisor at Caremark, took to social media with a desperate plea for help, asking if anyone could assist with tracking down the vital equipment needed to protect her staff from the virus.

Luckily, Kate’s post was seen by childhood friend, schoolmate and our managing director, Chris Bryant. Keen to spread kindness in these unprecedented times, Chris spent an entire day tracking down the much-needed equipment and delivered a significant consignment of PPE to Caremark the following day.

At Drive Personnel, we are indebted to the key workers who are serving on the front line during the coronavirus pandemic. To those who are keeping people safe, delivering essential items and saving lives in schools, supermarkets, care facilities and hospitals across the UK and globally, we thank you for your service and hope to inspire others to be kind during these unprecedented events.
